FutureNanoNeeds: Have your say in shaping the next generation of nanomaterials!

NANOfutures is involved in FutureNanoNeeds (www.futurenanoneeds.eu), a project funded by the European Commission under FP7. It aims at developing a novel framework to enable naming, classification, hazard and environmental impact assessment of the next generation nanomaterials prior to their widespread industrial use.

As part of the tasks performed by NANOfutures in this project, a set of value chains centred on key nanomaterials has been defined, including general descriptions of nanomaterials in terms of key properties and of the target applications and final products. Also, advantages with respect to state-of-the art materials or competing nanomaterials were summarized and current Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of the value chain were also estimated. Market analysis was described in details for each value chains, estimating market size, trends, geographical distribution, and segmentation by technology/material and by application and top companies.

Stakeholder consultation was launched to shape the NMBP part of the Work Programme 2018-2020. The consultation will remain open until 11. May 2016.

NANO2ALL

Nanotechnology constitutes a great promise for domains as diverse as product development, environmental conservation, medicine and information technology while simultaneously giving rise to numerous concerns about potential health risks and environmental hazards. In addition, nanotechnology raises wider social and ethical issues regarding unintended long-term consequences, social and financial risks, issues of governance and control and fundamental issues about life and human identity.

Within this context, NANO2ALL aims to put responsible research at the core of its methodology to create a climate of dialogue and engagement. NANO2ALL will create various tangible and intangible outputs and results, but most importantly insight that will allow researchers and decision-makers to engage with each other, as well as with other stakeholders and channel the feedback of their interaction into mechanisms that will reinforce the roadmap identifying research concerns and opportunities for innovation.

NanoDiode working conference

On 31st May it will be held in Brussels the NanoDiode working conference (please find attached the programme).
